Welcome to Selah Writing! Thank you for your interest. I am grateful you have found this space.
My name is Michelle Haseltine and I am a writer. My mother tells me, “When you were a baby, the only thing you wanted in your crib was books. You threw out stuffed animals and only kept the books.” I've always loved books and reading but my journey as a writer began when I was ten years old and my mother bought me my first notebook.
Once I had my notebook, I was hooked and I’ve been writing ever since. All of my writing goes directly into my notebook - stories, poems, quotes, letters, research - straight into my notebook. Writing untangles life for me. It’s how I process and understand the world around me. Notebooks have been with me during major life events - when I lived in Spain for a summer, the ups and downs of college and graduate school, moving to a new (town/state??) and starting over, and my dad’s illness and death. I bring my notebook with me everywhere...to work, to church, to dinner...it’s me and my notebook. Having a place to write brings me solace and joy and sharing this love of writing is why I started Selah Writing Retreats.
In 2016, SELAH was my word of the year. It means pause and reflect. Attending writing retreats is a favorite way for me to pause and reflect. My vision for Selah Writing is to create moments that give you the opportunity to pause, reflect, and write. These workshops and retreats will be a safe place where everyone has time to express themselves through writing. Give yourself the gift of time and participate in a workshop or join a retreat and take time to focus on writing and renewal.
My life has been filled with opportunities to write and share my writing...
