I've taken time away to reflect and plan for Selah Writing. I've considered my goals and vision. Here's a first draft of my manifesto for Selah Writing...
I want this to be a place where everyone feels safe to share their story. I believe that everyone has a story. I believe that each and every story has value and is worth sharing with the world.
I believe taking the time to invest in yourself is the best thing you can do. That's what I want Selah to be for you. That time, that place where you feel the freedom and the permission to BE yourself and to share your story.
I believe time spent inside the pages of a notebook is time well spent. I believe writing is messy and a process and needs to be crummy before it can grow into something beautiful.
I believe perfect is a myth. I believe mistakes are miracles. I believe we need to mine for the gold and value the imperfections...those imperfections make the stories our own.
I believe that everyone is welcome here. Are you a writer? Yes? This is for you! No? This is for you too! This is not a place about commas and red pens. It's a place to create and build.
I believe that your time is valuable. The time you spend at Selah Writing will be your gift to yourself. You'll be provided with ideas and support and encouragement, but it's up to you to take what you need and find your own way.
I believe in Selah Writing.
Today marks a beginning. I can announce the first writing workshop dates for my Selah Writing Retreats. There will be two retreats on the evenings of July 13th and 14th at Zephaniah Farm Vineryard.

I can't help but think of my favorite quote from the movie, Hope Floats:"...beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad, but it's the middle that counts the most. Try to remember that when you find yourself at a new beginning. Just give hope a chance to float up. And it will, too..."
How does one announce a dream?
